Asset Protection Committee

The mission of the Asset Protection Committee of the Real Property, Probate and Trust Law ("RPPTL") Section of The Florida Bar is to consider, develop, debate, and promote asset preservation relevant to Floridians. The committee both develops its own asset protection legislative proposals and vets those of others. It also serves as a watchdog against persistent efforts to erode Florida's asset protection attributes.

We have Committee meetings at each RPPTL Executive Council Meeting. Check the schedule on the RPPTL website for future meetings.

Even if you are not a Committee member, come and visit our next Committee meeting. We'll discuss recent asset protection cases, any legislative topics and try to get a handle on how better to mix estate planning and asset protection. Hope to see you there!

If you are interested in becoming a Committee member, please contact any of the Chairs.

Rachel Albritton Lunsford brought to the Committee’s attention the Hubbard v. Commissioner of Internal Revenue case. Come to the meeting to find out what it is about . . .

Tara Rao Bild will discuss In the matter of the CES 2007 Trust. This is a case that has garnered some recent commentary. You might read the Leimberg piece, if you are a subscriber, ahead of the meeting.
